The Hepatobiliary and pancreatic Surgery Service provides clinical assessment and management of conditions affecting the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, and pancreas. Patients may attend for evaluation of symptoms, investigation findings, or follow‑up of hepatobiliary and pancreatic conditions.

Liver‑Related Symptoms
Assessment may be provided for symptoms or findings involving the liver, including:

  • Abnormal liver function test results
  • Jaundice
  • Upper abdominal discomfort or pain
  • Liver masses or cysts identified on imaging

Gallbladder‑Related Symptoms
Patients may seek assessment for gallbladder‑related symptoms such as:

  • Upper abdominal pain, particularly after meals
  • Gallstones or mass identified on imaging
  • Gallbladder inflammation or infection
  • Recurring gallbladder-related symptoms

Bile Duct‑Related Symptoms
Assessment may be provided for symptoms or findings involving the bile ducts, including:

  • Jaundice related to bile duct obstruction
  • Dilated bile ducts identified on imaging
  • Bile duct stones or strictures
  • Suspected inflammatory or obstructive bile duct conditions

Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Tumours
Assessment may be provided for benign or malignant conditions involving the hepatobiliary and pancreatic system, including:

  • Liver tumours
  • Gallbladder tumours

  • Pancreatic tumours

Where clinically appropriate, surgical options may be considered as part of multidisciplinary management following evaluation.

Pancreatic‑Related Symptoms
Patients may attend for evaluation of symptoms or findings involving the pancreas, including:

  • Pancreatic masses or cysts identified on imaging
  • Upper abdominal or back pain related to pancreatic conditions
  • Abnormal pancreatic findings requiring further assessment

Hepatobiliary Infections
The service may assess conditions such as:

  • Cholangitis
  • Cholecystitis
  • Hepatic abscesses

Hepatobiliary Surgical Assessment
Where clinically appropriate, surgical assessment may be considered for:

  • Structural abnormalities of the liver, gallbladder, bile ducts, or pancreas
  • Obstructive conditions affecting bile flow
  • Tumour‑related hepatobiliary or pancreatic conditions
  • Persistent or recurrent symptoms not responsive to initial management
